The story of the brand began with Berni’s own passion for the "happier side of life." Working from her picturesque studio tucked away in the Worcestershire countryside, Berni uses her signature soft-pencil style to bring her whimsical characters to life.
Unlike traditional paintings, her use of coloured pencils creates a gentle, textured warmth that has become her trademark. Whether she is depicting the lively antics of her world-famous "Ladies Who Love Life" or the quiet sentiments of "Little Whispers," Berni has been winning hearts (and numerous Henries Awards) across the UK for years.
From a Single Wall of Cards to a Customer Favourite
When George and I took over White Orchard in early 2019, the new supplier catalogues were just landing on our desks. I remember flipping through the Berni Parker brochure and being struck not just by the cards, but by the fantastic quality of their gift range.
We decided to take a leap and introduced three shelves of Berni Parker gifts alongside our wall display of their cards. They were an instant hit, and we haven't looked back since. Over the years, we have tripled the number of greeting cards we offer from their range. In fact, our customers love the “Men Who Love Life” collection more than I ever expected and the range of birthday cards for young children has proven to be popular as well.
Now, as we enter our seventh year of running White Orchard, we are proud that our number one selling line of greeting cards comes from Berni Parker Designs. Whether you are looking for one of her hilarious “Mabel and Maude” cards, a milestone anniversary greeting, or a gentle sympathy card, we strive to offer the best selection you will find anywhere in Shropshire.

One of the most special things about Berni Parker Designs is the family behind the art. I first met Berni and her husband, John, at the NEC buying fair in February 2020, and I adored them instantly.
Since then, Berni and John have visited us at the shop several times! They love taking day trips to visit their stockists, and I can honestly say they are two of the kindest people you could ever meet. Working with their son, Ben, is equally wonderful.
In a world of big corporations, Berni Parker is proof that people buy from people. Knowing the lovely family behind the designs makes every delivery that arrives at White Orchard feel a bit more special.
A Heart for Community
Just like our friends at Wrendale, the team at Berni Parker Designs showed their true colours when we reached out for help last year. When we asked if they would support the pen-pal program for seniors in Shrewsbury, they didn't hesitate to send over a wonderful donation of greeting cards for all occasions. It is this shared sense of community that makes us so proud to offer their lovely gifts and cards to our customers.
